The tourists have started to come back, now the roads are full of lycra clad old men screaming around on thier bikes, there should be a law like in south africa no more than a gathering of two ( well 5  but no more), as a stream of up to 15 leisurly make thier way down the passieo maritime cycle track.

There is a statue in placa Drassana of Jaume Ferrer he was a 1300 majorcan sailor who went off to find the river of "gold", reputed to be the Senegal river, Had been sucessful and returned he would have beated the Portugese by a 100 years.see pic below.

May, Cloud Formation 300 miles north of Virgin Islands, May 2008

This photo was taken on board Alcyone mid morning en route from Roadtown BVI to St Georges Harbour, Bermuda. Jon, Jake, Dave (good looking from Newport) and myself as crew, Jon and Jake bailed at Bermuda and I had Rick Bailey come and join us for the Bermuda to Newport leg. The trip to Bermuda was one of the most pleasant I have ever done, steady wind so not too much motor sailing and each evening we watched the DVD´s on the laptop on the hatch cover an open air cinema and watched the Oscar nominations, as Jake was in the film industry and had obtained a set of members preview discs. The crew had it so easy that they got very lax so one morning I woke with the wind funneling into the aft cabin, as I walked down the passage towards the nav area I noticed the leading line on the radar projecting downwards.(we run north up display), So I went on deck and Jake was buried in a book, I looked at the compass and yes we were running due south. So I said ``Jake, how long have we been running south?`` I have done nothing he says since Jon went off watch. So to this day the surmise is that when Jon was reading the course etc to enter the log from the smart pilot he inadvertently turned the boat around.

Cloud formations they are incredible, I have seen clouds stranger than paintings, so I have added a few of my collection below, everyone loves sunsets and the ones you get a sea are defiantly the best. I have a calendar of sunset photos I did back in 2007 for the girl who used to cut my hair back in Annapolis.

I am very brief this month because I have had a cataract removed from my left eye. They operate I hope in a couple of weeks on my right eye, so I have good long distance vision in the left and lousy everything in the right but I can just see the screen if I close my left eye. The operation is nasty you have your eye open all the time and are not only conscious but you have too look in different directions for the surgeon. So my patience on the computer is short at the moment.
